Rotary Drill Operators, Oil and Gas

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Drill Operator to operate a DM45 at a mining site near Bullhead City, AZ. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of heavy equipment operation experience, with specific expertise in drilling in mining or similar high-production environments. This is a critical role in supporting daily site operations and ensuring material is moved safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Operate a DM45 drill in a safe, efficient, and productive manner

+ Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance

+ Accurately follow production and safety protocols

+ Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and other equipment operators

+ Recognize and report mechanical issues promptly

+ Maintain clean work areas and contribute to overall site housekeeping

+ Work in various weather and environmental conditions

Qualifications:

+ Minimum 8 years of experience operating drills (preferably DM45 or similar) in a mining or heavy construction environment

+ Strong understanding of mining safety practices and MSHA regulations

+ Ability to perform equipment walkarounds and document findings

+ High school diploma or GED required

+ Valid driver's license

+ Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check

Preferred Attributes:

+ MSHA certification (current or previous)

The Driller Assistant is an “on the road” travelling position. In this role, you can live at your current location and you will travel to our drilling sites where you will work a shift rotation varies by project, per Boart Longyear’s fatigue management policy, no more than 14 hours per day are worked, including travel.

**Minimum Qualifications**

+ Willing to travel by plane or car to worksites throughout the US.

+ Willing to work in remote locations and in all-weather elements

+ Willing to work at job sites for extended period of time, 12+ hour shifts for 14-20 days at a time

+ Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License

+ Must have valid U.S. Work Authorization

+ Must pass background and drug screening

+ Must pass a Physical Functional Fitness Evaluation

+ High School diploma or GED or equivalent

+ Minimum of 1 year of directly related experience in drilling AND/OR

+ Minimum of 1 year experience in related positions such as: construction laborer, heavy laborer, mechanic, and mechanical work.

**Responsibilities:**

Provide semi-skilled labor-intensive assistance for drilling crews. This could include the operation of various types of vehicles, equipment/machinery and other tasks including:

+ Hauling supplies to and from the drill site

+ Manual material handling

+ Mixing drilling fluids

+ Making connections – Adding/Removing rods to/from drill string.

+ Sample Collection – Ensure bags/cores are labeled correctly, are legible, kept in numeric order according to designated footages and closed securely.

+ Assist in rigging up/down and moving to new drill locations.

+ Fueling of site equipment and conducting preventative maintenance (Oil Changes, Greasing, Fueling, etc.)

+ Complete daily site inspections, mast inspections and pre-shift inspections on all equipment.

+ Responsible for providing site inductions to all visitors.

+ Responsible for general condition of and obtaining optimum life out of all site equipment and tooling.

+ Other duties as assigned by Driller/Field Supervisor

+ Also, at times, you may be responsible for the training of new driller assistant in a safe environment.
