ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Journeyman Lineman will perform the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground high voltage power lines. This position will set poles and change pole equipment; string and sag wire; handle oil-filled equipment; pull, lay, and terminate underground cable; install pad-mounted equipment; work on poles, in bucket trucks, in heights and close proximity to high voltages, in trenches, in vaults; and operate and work around heavy equipment. This position works with other departments and assists other employees as directed within the scope of their qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A High School Diploma or G.E.D with a completed registered Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship program. Must possess a valid Commercial Driver s License (Class A ) with ability to meet all DOT requirements. Experience working on all types of distribution lines including 4kv to 21kv and all related equipment required. This position requires the ability to be on-call on a rotating basis, to work various hours, weekends, evenings. The candidate will be required to live within a 30-minute response radius of the principle place of work and respond to call-out on a 24-hour basis. Must maintain effective working relationships with other employees, members and the public. The position requires a highly motivated individual with the ability to work productively in a team atmosphere.

Vacancies exist for the position of Journeyman Lineman/Cableman in the Maintenance Transmission and Trouble Department. The successful candidates will perform all phases of construction, operation and maintenance of transmission and distribution overhead and underground lines in accordance with Company standards and other Company and/or governmental rules and regulations.

+ Proficient construction skills and understanding of system plans.

+ Very familiar with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted.
+ Excellent customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
+ Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills.

**Job Description:**
Applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence, in selecting tools, testing instruments, and is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. This technician works under immediate supervision and achieves technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician.
Duties include responsibility for day-to-day operation to include (but not limited to):
+ Provide instrumentation support including calibration; configuration; installation; transportation; operation; maintenance (preventative, intermediate, and field); modification; upgrade; and development.
+ Provide sustaining and on-call maintenance as required on mobile facilities before, during, and after tests. This maintenance includes, but is not limited to, electronics, fiber optics, electrical and radio frequency (RF) systems. This service shall include operator level maintenance of the associated vehicles and generators and acquiring any required higher-level maintenance.
+ Develop, as required, and maintain operation and maintenance manuals for all existing instrumentation systems and associated equipment for each system.
+ Perform and document inspections, maintenance, and calibrations on a wide variety of fixed and mobile antenna systems. Equipment calibration, inspections, and maintenance shall be performed according to applicable equipment technical specifications and manuals, and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local statutes and regulations.
+ Support configuration changes to instrumentation, engineering modifications, development of experimentation items, maintenance and repair of test support systems and their components.

**Work Environment**
Generally, a combined office / field environment that involves inside or outside work depending on task. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting). Outside work may include various environmental conditions including warm and cold climates. Regular outside work includes deploying inside of a vehicle and shelter, setting up RF signal emitters, antennas, and ancillary equipment over uneven or rough terrain. Needs to be able to work well with co-workers, customer, and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions. Work site is located at Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Travel is required and applicant must be able to travel at least 1 week a month and up to four weeks at a time. Additional travel may be required depending on mission requirements.
**Equipment and Machines**
Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work-related tools as required. Ability to operate electronic Test Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) such as a volt/ohm meter, spectrum analyzer, RF power meter, communication network analyzer, oscilloscope, signal generator, and other related equipment. Driving on and off road for moderate to long distances both non-tactical and tactical vehicles may be required.
**Attendance**
Regular work hours will be Monday-Friday 7:00AM to 4:00PM, subject to change based on test demands. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines
**Other Essential Functions**
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required. Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. The Technician will align and test oscillators and other RF microwave products, including synthesizers and converters. They will need to work with chip and die (hybrid) circuits and components to align specifications to meet customer demand on a monthly requirement. Hours are Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm
**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Performs a variety of routine electronic or environmental test to ensure that the operation of subassemblies and units meet company and customer specifications.
+ Performs tests in accordance with established test procedures.
+ Performs troubleshooting to the component level (limited supervision required).
+ Records test results, maintains work logs and status reports in accordance with company work instructions.
