**Description:**

You will be an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor for our F\-35 Program at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona\! Our team is responsible for providing the direct management of aircraft production and sets maintenance priorities for the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment team\.

**What You Will Be Doing**

• Guides FMS Belgium, schedule requirement and production issues as they pertain to the F\-35 aircraft\.

• Supervises daily maintenance and flying operations\. Attend daily maintenance and flight operations meetings as required\.

• Reviews completed work orders and accomplishes Aircraft Safety of Flight Releases\.

• Ensure workforce follows appropriate technical instructions, Air Force Instruction 21\-101, and local operating instructions\. Advises management of status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed\.

• Must be able to perform short notice travel for business, Temporary Duty \(TDY\), and extended TDY to support Aeronautics Field Sustainment \(AFS\) program, mission or customer requirements\. A valid passport is desired\.

• Candidates must be capable of working first \(1st\), second \(2nd\) dependent on mission requirements or customer needs\.

• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a flight line driving competency card\.

• Must possess at minimum an Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to starting\. Must be able to obtain a Final Secret Security Clearance\. Must be a US Citizen\. This position is located at a facility that requires special access\.

• Physical Requirements: Regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive movements, work overhead, use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach with hands and arms\. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist\.

**Basic Qualifications:**

The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:

• 6 years minimum fighter aircraft with thorough understanding of Fighter Aircraft Systems and flight line operations\.

• Overall fighter experience must include at least 2 years F\-35 aircraft maintenance experience\.

• 1 year experience as an aircraft production superintendent or expeditor\.

• Experience with such programs as Aircraft Scheduling/Records Management, Job/Maintenance Control, Configuration Control, Maintenance Information System, Tool and FOD, Training, Safety, Security, Hazardous Waste Management or Supply Chain Management\.

**Desired Skills:**

• 4 years leadership experience in an aircraft maintenance environment

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic performs maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection, and aircraft servicing functions on assigned aircraft within an aircraft maintenance and operations environment and in accordance with applicable instructions.

Principal Accountabilities:

+ Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspection, repair, and modification of aircraft in accordance with 14 CFR and Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, technical manuals, and other data as applicable.

+ Perform daily and turnaround inspections on all assigned aircraft

+ Perform inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting and fault isolation on aircraft systems.

+ May be required to fly on Government aircraft for relocation, to conduct in-flight checks (test flights) and to conduct trouble shooting that cannot be completed on the ground.

+ May be required to perform official travel to temporary duty sites within and outside the United States.

+ Furnish own hand tools to perform maintenance of aircraft (necessary special tools and test equipment will be furnished by the customer).

Minimum Requirements:

+ Must possess and maintain a valid State driver’s license.

+ Must be willing to subject themselves to random drug tests.

+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance. Note: US Citizenship required to obtain clearance.

+ High school graduate or have an equivalency certificate from an accredited program, is required.

+ Must possess a valid FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.

+ Must be competent and knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft and aircraft systems to include airframes, structural, hydraulics, fuel and electrical systems, and aircraft engines.

+ Must be competent and knowledgeable in system troubleshooting, reading and interpretation of schematics, blueprints, technical manuals and FAA, Company, and other Directives.

+ Must be reliable and demonstrate good judgment.

+ Able to follow base, federal and Company procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.

+ Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.

+ Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in the English language and follow both verbal and written instruction.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

+ Be physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties.

+ Ability to move freely about the interior and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit.

+ Stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead for extended periods of time.

+ May be required to wear a respirator.

+ Pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.

+ Prefer at least two years of experience working rotary-wing aircraft.

+ Ability to safely and correctly drill a variety of hole sizes in both composite and metal structures, including stack-ups of dissimilar materials

+ Working hands-on with multiple fastener types including, but not limited to; Hi-Lite, Hi-Lok, Composi-Lok

+ Hands‐on aircraft manufacturing experience with both composite and metallic airframes

+ Adhere to set directions and guidelines from team leader to support collaboration across teams to complete project

+ Provide input of technical and operational knowledge in the assessment and repair/maintenance recommendations in support of the program assigned

+ Work on manufacturing assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations

+ Ensure quality and efficiency of installations, including troubleshooting and may provide guidance in troubleshooting processes and concepts

+ Adhere to assembly instructions to ensure accurate completion of complex project assemblies

**Required Skills and Experience**

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $53,040.00–$72,665.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Virgin Galactic is seeking a highly motivated Senior Structures Technician to support our Manufacturing team in Mesa. Guided by our values, “Safety above All”, we proactively manage the risks inherent in human spaceflight through our daily actions in the design and assembly efforts.

Primary tasks will be associated with the unique bonding and assembly processes used in the production of our spaceships air frame. This position will involve setting up assembly fixturing, drilling, fay sealing, fastener installation, trimming/fitting of components, and other dynamic and exciting spacecraft manufacturing operations. Maintain focus on timeliness and execution of tasks and deliverables every day. Support the company strategy by holding ourselves and one another accountable for getting the work done.

**Work Schedule:** 4/10 Onsite Monday through Thursday Day Shift

**Responsibilities**

+ Assemble Composite parts and assemblies of varying complexities and sizes

+ Ability to safely and correctly Utilize Shop Tools/Machinery to include drills, die grinders, and calipers

+ Ability to safely and correctly drill a variety of hole sizes in both composite and metal structures, including stack-ups of dissimilar materials

+ Working hands-on with multiple fastener types including, but not limited to; Hi-Lite, Hi-Lok, Composi-Lok

+ Hands‐on aircraft manufacturing experience with both composite and metallic airframes

+ Adhere to set directions and guidelines from team leader to support collaboration across teams to complete project

+ Provide input of technical and operational knowledge in the assessment and repair/maintenance recommendations in support of the program assigned

+ Work on manufacturing assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations

+ Ensure quality and efficiency of installations, including troubleshooting and may provide guidance in troubleshooting processes and concepts

+ Adhere to assembly instructions to ensure accurate completion of complex project assemblies

+ Continuously practice safety behavior and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) awareness/prevention; adhere to regulatory protocols and rules

+ Work collaboratively to achieve goals and/or complete assigned tasks

**Required Skills and Experience**

+ High School Diploma or equivalent

+ Minimum of three years of experience with aircraft fabrication and assembly required or equivalent industry

+ Hands-on experience in a precision yet manual manufacturing setting strongly preferred

+ Understanding and familiarity with multiple types of fasteners

+ Knowledge of proper drill speeds and feeds for materials being worked

+ Understanding of hole angularity and the importance of hole tolerances

+ Proficient in using specialized tools and equipment to assemble and or repair aircraft

+ Proficient in identifying, installing, and removing common aircraft fasteners

+ Demonstrated ability to use computer applications to follow manufacturing work instructions

+ Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and/or models on paper or digital

**Preferred Skills and Experience**

+ Knowledge of applying current manufacturing practices and willingness to learn cutting edge spacecraft manufacturing techniques and /or Airframe & Power plant (A&P) training

+ Hands-on experience in a precision yet manual manufacturing setting strongly preferred

+ Use of hand drills, power feed drills (PFD), Jiffy/E-Tech tools, Setti Tec preferred

+ Demonstrate willingness to adjust thinking and behavior

+ Knowledge of providing quality repairs of malfunctioning systems

+ Ability to collaborate on technical projects with fellow technicians, or interdepartmental functions to achieve goals or solve problems

+ Ability to communicate in a manner that is timely, respectful, and open to other ideas

+ Knowledge of lean manufacturing philosophies and tools a plus

+ Ability to get into the details, while maintaining a broader view

+ Strong safety forward thinking, practice good housekeeping, tool control, recognizing the importance of properly handling hazardous materials, and chemicals

+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

+ Familiar with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $53,040.00–$72,665.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity.
