Certified Welder - 3rd Shift (Sunday-Thursday, 11 pm - 7 am)
Position Summary:
Performs a wide range of routine to complex manual, automatic and/or semiautomatic welds utilizing a variety of equipment on high temperature and high strength metal alloys, as specified by blueprints, layouts, welding procedures, and work instructions. Includes welding on commercial and military fabrications. In a team environment, work to develop processes, procedures, and tooling necessary to effectively weld completed assemblies.
Responsibilities:
Following established procedures, responsibilities may include some or all the following:
+ Properly set up and operate manual and automatic welding systems per work instructions and good welding practices.
+ Positions and adjusts fixtures, attachments, or workpiece on machine, using visual acuity, hand tools and measuring devices.
+ Adjust, within procedural limits, to fine-tune the process to achieve conformance standards.
+ Read and understand product and process drawings, procedures, weld symbols, and quality requirements.
+ Performs proper pre-weld cleaning and handling of parts.
+ Inspects hardware to ensure specifications are met, by visual inspection and measuring devices.
+ Maintain a high level of performance while following appropriate procedures and observing all pertinent safety rules and requirements.
+ Maintain work area and equipment in an organized, clean, and FOD-free manner.
+ Obtain and maintain all required qualifications and certifications in all appropriate metals.
+ Ability to perform set-up and troubleshooting of weld equipment.
+ Understand general and weld specific safety issues.
+ Provide guidance to less experienced welders as necessary.
+ Assist with skill development, safety, and other training of welders.
+ Work with Engineering as needed to develop weld processes and resolve weld issues.
+ Troubleshoot all weld equipment working in a team environment to maintain operational needs.
Qualifications:
+ HS diploma or equivalent.
+ At least 8+ years of welding or related experience or demonstrated ability to perform the described responsibilities.
+ Able to become certified to AWS D17.1.2001.
+ Able to read and understand product and process drawings, procedures, weld symbols and quality requirements.
+ Must demonstrate manual dexterity.
+ Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
+ Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
+ Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics.
+ Must demonstrate effective English verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Purpose:
To be a direct link between the Shop Supervisor and the shift team. The Lead Person assigns workload to complete daily fabrication needs and complies with all safety, quality, quantity, and shop housekeeping standards.
Your Responsibilities:
Must adhere to Nucor Rebar Fabrication safety programs and standards. Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication mission statement. Work with Branch Shop Manager in establishing daily work assignments to maximize shift operations. Oversee all processes, equipment, employees, safety, and shop housekeeping in meeting production quality and quantity standards on the shift. Help train new employees in the safe and efficient use of equipment to which they are assigned. Troubleshoot production problems so that delays are minimized, and equipment functions as safely and efficiently as possible.
