This is an entry-level position where you will have the opportunity to learn the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of the District's Wastewater Treatment Facility, Advanced Water Treatment Facility, and recycled water distribution systems and their components.
Applicants must possess an AZ driver's license and have a clean driving record. A pre-employment drug test and background check are required. The applicant must be able to obtain, within one year of hire, a Grade 1 Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification issued by the ADEQ.
Hours may vary between 8-or 10-hour shifts. The treatment plant staffed hours are between 0500 to 2200 seven days a week.

**Position Purpose:**

Responsible for all surface water, waste water and boiler utility systems, potable water, lift stations, and Arizona Pollution Discharge Elimination systems (APDES) events, including the servicing of equipment, extraction and process control analysis of water samples, replenishing water treatment chemicals, and preparation of requisite operating logs

**Primary Duties/responsibilities:**

+ Extracts daily representative samples from the Water Treatment Plant, WasteWater Treatment Plant, Cooling Tower, and Incinerator Boilers. Labels jars, transport to the laboratory for analysis, and attaches identification number for oil and grease and TOC samples. Metals, phenols and COD samples go to EAS Lab (off site lab)

+ Performs numerous process control analyses including pH, temperature, turbidity, hardness, conductivity, chlorine, molybdate, phosphate, sulfite, and alkalinity. Completes and maintains numerous operating logs, records, and reports.

+ Completes inspection of all process equipment on a 4-hour basis. Replenishes water treatment chemical tanks, monitors equipment performance, adjusts operating parameters (level, blowdown, flow rates, metering pumps, etc.), and services equipment (clears lines, minor repairs, preventative maintenance).

+ Completes Daily Checklist on Water Treatment Plant Samples, WasteWater Treatment Plant samples, APDES samples, and totalizes water readings on APDES system and water meters.

+ Coordinates all APDES events including starting stationary and portable discharge pumps,and obtaining water samples.

+ Observes, instructs, and leads truck drivers and outside contractors to insure compliance with plant health, safety, and security rules.

+ Maintains inventory of critical spare parts, chemicals, and laboratory supplies; initiates requisitions for replacements.

+ Participates in training programs. Assists in training other employees and in writing and updating SDPs and safety review procedures. Attends schools as necessary to maintain current required license.

+ Provides analytical and specialized administrative support, troubleshooting, and coordination activities of a non-routine nature. Investigates and analyzes problems for expedient resolution.

+ Performs daily calibration of equipment.

+ Maintains reservoir levels and operates associated equipment.

+ Inputs process information in computer daily and participates in compilation of information necessary to complete monthly reports.

+ Maintains housekeeping standards and personal protective equipment in work areas.

+ Assists in performing plant maintenance, cleanup, and repairs during downtime.

**JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE**

The Water/Wastewater Operator is responsible for operation and maintenance of equipment in our water/wastewater treatment facility and potable water distribution system in Fort McDowell Arizona.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

+ Operates a variety of equipment/machinery including: valves, pumps, motors, belt presses, disinfection equipment, vehicles, etc.

+ Conducts routine testing, monitoring and maintenance of production wells, water/wastewater unit processes and basic laboratory analyses.

+ Performs and documents treatment process and maintenance of treatment facility equipment. Documents plant performance including daily flow, electrical and chemical usage and dosage.

+ Responds to call outs and after-hours emergencies to repair treatment equipment, pumps, motors, sensing devices, instrumentation and electrical support.

+ Ensures facilities are clean, neat and secure.

+ Provides customer service functions when necessary.

+ Other duties as assigned.

+ Willing to work all shifts, including: weekends, holidays, evening and 24-hour emergency on call.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Job Description

The primary responsibilities of this position are to prepare, process and distribute raw materials/powders for the purposes of producing ceramic semi-finished products. The Operator also ensures the area production schedule is executed to time, quality, and productivity requirements.

Pay - $24/hr - $26/hr

DAY: Monday Thursday 4x10 6am 4:30pm

Skills and Requirements

* High School Diploma/GED Equivalent

* 2 plus years experience with chemicals or powders a plus

* Experience working in a clean room/controlled environment a plus

* Computer Literate and Knowledgeable about tools and tooling

* Fluent in written and spoken English.
