Overview

Position Objective:

Operate a motor grader to spread and level dirt, gravel, and stone to finish grade specifications in construction and maintenance of earthwork structures, such as highways, streets, dikes, temporary roads, and sub-divisions.

Essential Functions:

+ Capable of blue topping roads and pads.

+ Fully understand the controls and function of the blade.

+ Operate all controls and functions in a safe and non-abusive manner.

+ Communication via 2-way radio.

+ Achieve acceptable rough and finish grade in all types of soils and conditions.

+ Read and understand grades on stakes.

+ Watch and report on wear items (i.e. cutting edges, teeth).

+ Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

+ 2+ years finish blade operations experience required.

+ Experience with Trimble Machine Control preferred.

+ Must be 18 years of age.

+ Completion of grade 12 or equivalent preferred.

+ Display an uncompromising focus on safety by properly following company policies and MSHA/DOT/DEQ regulations for safe working procedures and protection of the environment.

+ Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.

+ Be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

+ Ability to do basic math.

+ Must require minimal supervision.

+ Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

+ Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.

+ At least 20/40 acuity (Snellen) in each eye with or without correction. At least 70 degrees peripheral in horizontal meridian measured in each eye.

Work Demands & Environment:

+ Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, and as needed, safety-toed boots, respirator, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment.

+ Employee will be required to work in outdoor environments which may include exposure to extreme temperatures and weather.

+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, stand, sit, shovel, sweep, rake, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms, possibly for extended periods.

+ Requires occasional moving/lifting of up to 50 pounds during the course of the work day.

Job Description

The Chemical Applicator position is primarily responsible for the application of Pesticides and Fertilizers to the golf course and grounds.

Responsibilities

+ Stay informed about current advancements in golf course management and help maintain departmental standards and procedures.

+ Assist in the planning and execution of major golf championships and complex agronomic programs.

+ Implement and enforce departmental safety programs.

+ Apply fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides using hoses and truck-mounted equipment.

+ Calibrate spray and rotary equipment as needed.

+ Assist Golf Course Superintendents in developing and executing short- and long-term application programs.

+ Maintain accurate daily spray records and manage chemical inventory.

+ Perform preventive maintenance on all spray-related equipment.

+ Read, understand, and stay current with product labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

+ Ensure chemical storage and mixing areas meet all local, state, and federal compliance standards.

+ Conduct routine safety inspections of all spray equipment.

+ Operate various types of golf course maintenance equipment as needed.

+ Ensure all chemical applications are performed in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

+ Arrive prepared for work each day, in uniform and with a positive attitude.

+ Demonstrate proper equipment calibration techniques and understanding.

+ Follow all safety protocols when loading, mixing, and applying products.

+ Exhibit a basic knowledge of the game of golf, including rules and expected playing conditions for an upscale championship course.

+ Work safely and respectfully in guest areas.

+ Perform all golf course maintenance tasks with pride and a sense of ownership, maintaining high-quality standards.

+ Inspect tools and equipment before, during, and after use; operate all equipment safely and report damage or issues to a supervisor.

+ Understand and use the work order system for equipment repair and maintenance.

Qualifications

+ Minimum of one year of experience and/or training in golf course operations, including pesticide and fertilizer application; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Must be at least 18 years old.

+ Pesticide application certification required.

+ Ability to follow label instructions and consistently use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

+ Highly organized, efficient, and self-motivated.

+ Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

+ Must be able to safely work in and around golfers, hazardous equipment, and maintenance tools.

+ Must be able to work safely with hand tools, trimming tools, transportation vehicles, mowing equipment, sprayers, spreaders and mixing equipment.

+ Physical ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads, stoop, crouch, and stand for the duration of a shift.

Apply primer, silicone, sealant, and other materials to commercial glass installations, including different windows systems, curtain walls and storefronts.

SWP Contracting and Paving, LLC has an exciting opportunity for an experienced **Finish Blade Operator** to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe operation of a finish blade for earthwork, grading, and finish grading on commercial and civil construction sites.

**Responsibilities and Duties:**

+ Safe operation of heavy construction equipment.

+ Drive, maneuver, or control the heavy machinery used to construct roads and other structures.

+ Follow rules, regulations, procedures, policies, and instructions.

+ Perform other related duties as required.

+ Inspect and maintain motor grader/blade

**Qualifications:**

+ A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

+ Operate construction heavy equipment

+ Previous experience with grade control systems

+ Heavy/highway construction experience

+ GPS experience is a plus
