**The Role**
General Motors is looking for a Network Engineer to help us build and maintain our automation ecosystem that delivers production and development services to the autonomous vehicles production network. As a critical member of the Infrastructure Engineering team, this role will drive the ongoing advancement and scaling of our critical production network and network systems. These systems are essential for automating network design, deployment, troubleshooting, upkeep, and operations.Furthermore, this individual will manage the complete lifecycle of on-premise network devices and servers, including automated initial configuration and ongoing management through our network Source of Truth and automation platforms.
**What You’ll be doing:**
+ Develop well-written technical and architectural designs
+ Build and support network automation platforms that provide services to our global network
+ Work with fellow network engineers and SREs to fully understand the challenges in complex networks that can be solved through software-based solutions
+ Deliver complex network automation architectures through incremental development practices
+ Help maintain our switches, routers, and network access equipment
+ Deploy and maintain our software defined cloud networking, primarily in GCP and AWS
+ Participate in network operations and systems on-call rotation
+ Perform peer-reviews, provide guidance and contribute based on software best practices
**Additional Job Description**
**Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)**
+ Experience developing and maintaining enterprise grade tools, platforms, or applications
+ Experience working with full-stack network automation architectures including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, orchestration and automation frameworks, network source-of-truth applications, configuration management, and telemetry/observability stacks
+ In depth knowledge working with Python and/or Golang in a production environment.
+ Ability to break down complex software and automation concepts and present them in a concise way for a wide-ranging audience
+ Experience working with Git in a collaborative environment
+ Strong hands-on knowledge of NX-OS, IOS-XE, Arista EOS
+ Experience managing production workloads in AWS, GCP and/or Azure
+ Foundational knowledge of network/security best-practices and design patterns

+ GCP or Azure certifications/experience
+ Understanding of 802.11ac/ax WiFi technologies and 802.1x authentication
+ Experience with BGP and ISIS in ECMP+VRF configurations

+ Experience with web frameworks such as Django, Gin, or Angular

+ The salary range for this role is $219,000 to $396,700.The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
+ Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
