Direct-Care Workers
Direct-care workers are crucial in providing long-term care and personal assistance to elderly individuals, those with disabilities, and those facing chronic conditions. They help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, cooking, and medication management. Their contribution is significant, making up 70 to 80 percent of paid hands-on care. They serve as a lifeline, promoting independence and improving the quality of life for those they support. Additionally, direct-care work is a vital sector for job creation and economic growth, especially as the demand for care continues to rise with an aging population. Supporting and investing in the training, development, fair wages, and benefits of direct-care workers is essential for sustaining this critical workforce and ensuring high-quality care for those in need.
Behavioral Health Technician
A behavioral health technician is a person who helps people with mental health or behavioral challenges. They work in the medical field and support individuals who may be struggling with their emotions or behaviors. A behavioral health technician helps people understand and manage their feelings and actions in a positive way. To become a behavioral health technician, a person needs to complete some special training. They learn how to communicate effectively, show empathy, and provide support to those in need. They also learn about different mental health conditions and ways to help people cope with them. It's important for a behavioral health technician to be caring, understanding, and patient in order to help others lead happier and healthier lives.
